Salary: £40,000- £50,000 plus car allowance and benefits (Dependant on relevant sales experience within the Motorsport market)

Performance Products 

PP specialises in, low and niche volume complex, precision manufacturing of torque path components, and electromechanical products, related assemblies and solutions within Driveline and Powertrain platforms, as well industrialisation consultancy to some of the highest profile and advanced clients in Motorsport and High Performance Automotive markets. For over 50 years, Ricardo has been a trusted manufacturing partner to some of the biggest names in top-flight Motorsport, and whilst this is a global role, the main focus will be on the UK, Europe and North America.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • To network at senior levels within Motorsport Teams and OEM’s, to hunt new opportunities within this arena.
  • Create and execute both strategic and tactical sales and account management plans.
  • To provide market stability and sales performance through proactive sales engagement for Ricardo Performance Products in the Motorsport and associated markets. 
  • To collaborate with colleagues in other sectors (Industrialisation Consultancy, High Performance Vehicles, Defence and Aerospace, Off-Highway & Marine) as required.
  • Responsibility for finding and engaging targeted new customers, development of commercial proposals and quotations in response to customer enquiries, working closely with Bid management, engineering & operations.
  • To ensure that all potential sales opportunities are fully exploited and reasons for success / failure are understood and corrective action plans are suggested.
  • To identify, qualify, develop and close New Business.
  • To identify and develop opportunities for growth from within existing customers, whilst protecting and maintaining existing revenue streams.
  • Ensure delivery of agreed objectives and strategic priorities in line with the business strategy.
  • This role will involve taking both Ricardo’s existing capabilities and solutions, as well as driving new Green Propulsion solutions into the market where appropriate.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Bid Management Team to ensure high quality proposals are delivered to clients in a timely manner, following business processes at all times.
  • To ensure that costing and estimating for proposals are accurate.
  • To own the commercial responsibility for proposal accuracy.
  • To lead and develop marketing campaigns and promotional materials in line with business requirements, working closely with Marcomms Team.
  • To provide detailed customer analysis and management information.
  • To maintain and contribute towards the development of sales reporting tools.
  • To communicate sales/business development updates in regular staff briefings and reporting as required.
  • To provide monthly SOI and Revenue forecasting as part of the S&OP process.
  • To update and maintain accurate and records and notes on CRM in real time.
  • To travel as and when appropriate (this will involve international travel as and when required to support your business growth plans).
  • Management and adherence to Ricardo and Performance Products business metrics.
  • To be able to work within a matrix organisation and manage stakeholders across cross-disciplined teams, from operations, finance, marketing and the board.

Essential

  • Technical Sales experience within a Motorsport or Automotive environment
  • Relevant Degree (preferable) and/or demonstrable experience in a values-based sales role.
  • Excellent professional proposal writing experience.
  • Minimum of intermediate to advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and experience of the Top Tier Motorsport market.

 

Desirable 

  • Strong book of contacts across Top Tier Motorsports with Team Principles, Technical Directors and Procurement.
  • Experience of selling to senior level stakeholders within Motorsport Race Teams and, or OEM’s and Chassis manufacturers.
