The Role

Based out of Ricardo Shoreham Technical Centre, we are seeking a Senior Project Engineer in Diesel ICE Calibration, to deliver on-going client projects, primarily in Base Engine and Aftertreatment Calibration fields.

 

Our client list includes the world's major transportation Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), supply chain organisations, energy companies, financial institutions & governments.

 

Our Calibration team is responsible for calibration and validation of complex control systems for a wide range of complex, clean propulsion and energy systems, including: engines, transmissions, xEV power-trains, power electronics, motors and drives, battery management systems, advanced thermal systems, and fuel cell systems. Our support to customers covers the full spectrum of calibration development, from feasibility studies, through to fully validated production calibration. In this role, you will be primarily working on Diesel engine and aftertreatment calibration development and validation, but may be expected to support other technical domains depending on the nature of the department workload.

 

Key responsibilities

To deliver client projects as part of a team:

  • Technical development and validation of base engine and emissions control calibration including but not limited to air-charge, fuelling, EGR, DPF, SCR, etc.
  • Technical development for engine emissions control
  • Calibration development on engine test bench, chassis dynamo-meter and in vehicle on road
  • Technical analysis to achieve tasks with sound evidence base
  • Responsibility for delivering assigned tasks to time, cost and quality on customer projects
  • Interface directly with clients on technical issues
  • Liaison with wider team members to organise and deliver project activities as required
  • Reporting of technical status internally and to customers
  • Supervision of junior team members on assigned tasks.

 

Key Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will have a sound automotive engineering background, and a number of years of experience in successfully delivering projects in engine calibration or related disciplines. Strong technical background in the calibration of Engine Management Systems, knowledge of traditional calibration and data analysis tools such as INCA/MDA, knowledge of EMS strategies, and a sound understanding of engine fundamentals is required.

 

Good communication skills in English are required as the role is part of international team. The candidate will be expected to liaise with customers on a regular basis.
