We are currently looking for a Consultant to join our Economics Advisory team. We welcome candidates at various levels of experience, whether you’re early in your career or have several years of consulting expertise experienced in delivering complex projects. A background in Economics and experience working within the Water industry will be essential for this role.

This role may be based out of one of our hubs across Australia (Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane).

Key responsibilities 

• Lead small projects as the main contact for the project team from initial project phase through to delivery of project deliverables.
• Support the technical lead on complex projects and proposals.
• Assist in completing reports for all stages of the project from conception to completion.
• Ensure consistency in accuracy and timely output of work.
• Conduct economic and financial analysis, modelling, and strategy development.
• Deliver advisory services, including cost-benefit analysis, regulatory economic advice, and policy evaluation.
• Develop meaningful and innovative ideas, solutions, and strategies for our clients.
• Support Ricardo’s project teams to deliver exceptional results across multiple sectors and industries.
• Report any project issues to your respective Team Leader, Project Director and Directors of the business so that client relations can be addressed early.
• Continually strive to improve technical knowledge and encourage team technical discussions.
• Provide input into business development strategies and initiatives to further grow the business.
• Take an active interest in the other business units within Ricardo to further develop your specialist skills.

Key competencies and experience 

• Minimum Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Economics or a related field.
• Consultant (2+ years) relevant experience in a similar role within a consulting or professional services environment will be valuable.
• Experience supporting multiple projects with competing demands.
• Proven track record of contributing high-quality work.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, and ability to learn new systems and software quickly.

Desirable

• Experience in the Water sector will be highly regarded
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, pricing and regulation, or sector-specific Economics.
